Greetings! Thank you for your interest in our social club and camping group based in the Greater Metro Detroit area. As a social club, we have an informal organization with events, parties, and activities in addition to weekend camping trips. Some events include white water rafting, canoe trips, fireworks, picnics, day hikes, plays, movies, and other social activities that interest our members. To do this, we ask our members to share their planned events with the members in addition to those events planned as an official group event. Our five-member board plans the calendar of weekends and handles the business of the club. Meetings are only held as needed, generally for board election, so that members can attend fun events rather than boring planning or budget meetings. Social activities for the club are planned and announced only in the newsletter. As a social club, we have monthly events and frequent camping trips open to all the members. Members that have events planned are encouraged to share the information so everyone has the chance to attend. This sharing of events makes more activities available to the members and helps share the responsibility of planning/coordinating events among more people. If you have an annual event or an upcoming event you'd like to offer to people, please share the information with us and we will pass it along to the members. Men Only or Women Only events and trips are permitted and are announced to the appropriate members via email or newsletter. We want to allow our members to be themselves in a comfortable and friendly environment. We don't advertise our presence in the campground or facility. We keep things simple and want your input, ideas, suggestions, and feedback. In this manner the club should remain a social club that the members want to be a part of. Every month will have something available to the members. Cabin campouts, dinners, IMAX movies, regular campouts or cabin campouts, hikes, canoeing, parties, and other activities. There may be more to do than time to do it! That's the whole idea behind a social club! Send a name and phone number and we'll do our best to return calls. Dues/Membership: $25.00 minimum donation per person per calendar year (effective 4/15/2003).
We have e-mailed newsletters for communications and for those that prefer, we will also have regular mailed newsletters. These newsletters are only available to paid members, however. We also have a website with limited information at: http://altcamping.org Dues will cover expenses such as the post office box, long distance calls, prizes and event expenses, advertising, website, and a petty cash fund to cover the cost of cabin reservations until member deposits are received. This is not a for-profit venture. Membership information will be held strictly confidential. We do not and will not rent, sell, lease, or share any personal information to any other group or organization. The membership directory will be available only to other members and only on request. Unless permission is granted via the membership form, only your first name will appear on the membership directory. Each member must pay dues and fill out a membership form.
